Whitehall Rd Bridge Project Finished
A short stretch of Whitehall Road that spans the border between East and West Norriton Townships has re-opened to traffic.
It was closed for more than five months while PennDot crews rebuilt a bridge over Kepner Creek. The stone bridge, built in 1911, had been repaired several times.
The creek was an unnamed tributary to Stony Creek until a few years ago, when state officials named it Kepner Creek in memory of Carol Kepner, a Norristown State Hospital nurse who was shot and killed during a 1999 hostage standoff at the hospital.
