Gene Juillet of Schwenksville shared his experience Thursday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest. He said he felt a lot of pressure on his chest and broke into a heavy sweat while mowing his lawn at the age of 50, and after he got to the hospital he found out how serious it was.

“I did a whole lot of damage to my heart muscle itself.  My whole left ventricle had turned to a substance that resembled applesauce.”

He said his main artery had a 99 percent blockage, but he always thought he was healthy, so if you have any symptoms don’t wait for the heart attack.

“I advocate for anyone that has anything unusual happening in their chest or to their heart or short of breath to have it looked into as soon as you can before it’s too late.”

Juillet says his parents both died of heart disease, but he never thought it would affect him, so no one should ever discount the genetic factor.
