Bucks Co Homeless Shelter Getting New Owner-Operator
The American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania has found a new owner-operator for the largest emergency homeless shelter in Bucks County.
The Red Cross has operated it for 25 years, including the last ten on New Falls Road in Levittown, but now it says the shelter does not fit in with its mission of disaster preparedness and relief. Starting on January 1, the new owner will be the Family Service Association, which provides mental health counseling and other programs for children and adults. The family service association has provided case management and mental health services at the homeless shelter since it opened in the late 1980’s. It houses 75 men, women and children.
