Limerick Unit Restarted
Unit Two at Exelon Nuclear’s Limerick Generating Station started producing electricity again Sunday after being shut down earlier this month for refueling and maintenance.
The company says it should be safe and reliable for another two-year operating cycle. Exelon employees and nearly 1,900 supplemental workers performed about 13,000 activities including tests, inspections, maintenance and modifications in addition to replacing one third of the reactor’s fuel.
