Sellersville Water System Sold
“They took into account water quality and, very importantly, what the rates would be, so they looked at the combination of the offer that we gave to them in terms of purchase price and also capital investment and the rate freeze. We are going to be freezing their rates for ten years, and they are very happy about that.”
He says the rates will initially go from $4.68 to $5.28 per thousand gallons, and then they will not raise the rates again for at least ten years, and residents can say goodbye to the quantity and quality problems of the past.
“Both of those problems go away with the North Penn Water Authority because we will actually be bringing in water from the Forest Park Water Treatment Plant, so we’ve got plenty of capacity and the quality that we’ll be providing to them will be excellent.”
Bellitto says the Forest Park Treatment Plant in Chalfont is part of the Point Pleasant Water Diversion Project, which brings Delaware River water to the North Penn and North Wales Water Authorities. North Penn has been operating the Sellersville Water System since October, and it will take ownership within about 30 to 60 days.
