DEP Issues Drought Warning

beachThe Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a drought warning for 24 counties, including Bucks and Montgomery. Under a drought warning, the DEP asks people to voluntarily reduce water consumption by 10 to 15 percent.  Rainfall has been well below normal for the last three months, with the precipitation deficit in Bucks County at 5 1/2 inches.  That’s one of the biggest deficits in the state.  The DEP says people can save water in the bathroom by taking short showers instead of long showers or baths, and they can save water in the kitchen or laundry room by running only full loads in washing machines and dishwashers and keeping cold water in the refrigerator instead of letting it run until it gets cold.
