Drought Disaster Declared

veggiesThe U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a disaster declaration for 16 Pennsylvania counties, including Bucks, Montgomery and Chester Counties. It means farmers in those counties can apply for low-interest emergency loans to help them recover from crop loss caused by this summer’s dry weather.  Farmers should contact their local farm service agency to receive a loan application.  The USDA will consider each application on its own merit, based on losses, available resources and repayment ability.
