Milford Buying Open Space
Milford Township has bought a prime piece of open space along Allentown Road, between Route 663 and Milford Middle School, that it has been trying to get for a few years.
It’s near other preserved land and it contains a stream and other environmentally sensitive features. The township bought it at auction, agreeing to pay $750,000, or about $10,000 per acre, for the 80-acre farm. That’s about $100,000 below the appraised price. It’s paying for the property out of the $5 million open space bond issue the voters approved three years ago. After this purchase goes through the fund will still contain more than a million dollars. The township is buying the land from Gambone Brothers, a commercial and residential developer.
