Three Bucks County teens spent part of their Memorial Day at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Philadelphia.
They stood alongside veterans at a service in front of the memorial they had damaged in March by skating all over its concrete steps, metal railings and steep granite walls. They were there as part of their plea agreement for vandalism charges. They must also help with cleaning the memorial grounds and repairing the damage, and perform community service at veterans’ hospitals. The boys are all 17-year-old juniors at Central Bucks West High School. After the service and a tour of the memorial with their families, one boy said, “We learned a lot. We’re glad we came.”
