Allentown Road in Towamencin Township will re-open this Thursday, June 3, between Orvilla and Weikel Roads, but it will close at the same time between Orvilla and Keeler Roads. It’s the latest phase in a larger project to straighten and re-align the offset intersection with Allentown, Troxel and Orvilla Roads.  PennDot’s Charles Metzger says the contractor is also adding left turn lanes at all four approaches to a new traffic signal.  The total construction cost is about $3.3 million, paid for entirely by federal funding because it will ease traffic congestion and reduce air pollution.  Towamencin Township paid for land acquisition and design work before construction started.  The job should be finished in September.
