Grandview Hospital is marking a hundred years of service in 2013. According to records, it’s the oldest hospital in Bucks County. But Grandview’s C.O.O. Mark Horn says it has a growing reputation for health care excellence.

“We recently received the award for orthopedic services from Health Grades, in 2013 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence and that’s in all the top five hospitals nationally. So Grandview is one of nearly 45-hunderd hospitals in the country and we’re in the top 5-percent in that award.”   

Horn’s provided those comments during a live broadcast on AM-1440 from Grandview’s Health Seminar in Souderton.

The attacks on Americans in Boston on Monday continue to evoke strong comments from lawmakers. Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick says, he’s been briefed on the investigation.

“Just as our response was on September 11th, we will build and rebuild and let terrorists know that they’re not going to able to alter our way of life here. That needs to be our response. We need a swift law enforcement serious response, but as a country we need to come together and that is happening.”

Governor Tom Corbett has ordered all U-S and State flags to be lowered to half-staff in the wake of the bombings.  

“As everybody across the country we are shocked. Our prayers go out to the people who were killed and those who were injured, and their families.”

Corbett adds, the Administration is ready to help with security at a marathon in Pittsburgh on May 5th.

Two bombs triggered at the Boston Marathon continue to spark outrage as to who may be the mastermind behind the attacks. Congressman Patrick Meehan says the suspect or suspects will be tracked down.

“It will happen with painstaking work that is done. I would like to have it happen quickly.”

Meehan adds, when they’re caught……

“The death penalty has been written in to Federal and can be prosecuted under local law.”

From a security standpoint, local security expert,
Dave Gordon says the main focus for investigators in Boston will come from eyes in sky.

“Looking at every piece of video and photo that was taken throughout the day, trying to pinpoint those two areas.”

Gordon adds, witnesses probably saw the suspect who left the bomb, likely thinking it was just someone throwing something away.

The bombings at the Boston Marathon hits close to home.  Doctor Todd Alderfer, a Sellersville cardiologist, participated in the marathon with a group of people from our area.  Alderfer says, everyone in his group finished the marathon before the bombs exploded, but he soon found out what had happened when he was on the subway.

“Our subway train was driving underneath the station when blast occurred. We didn’t know a blast occurred, but the subway driver didn’t stop at Copley Square. He skipped that stop and went to the next stop and opened up and one security cop came in and evacuated the subway train itself and the entire subway and just sent everybody to the surface, cause it was literally within three minutes of the bomb going off.”

Alderfer and his group did not suffer any injuries, but some frayed nerves. It was the 13th time Alderfer ran the Boston Marathon. Alderfer was interviewed live with Darryl Berger on WNPV’S New AM-Edition Tuesday morning.
