Keeping Seniors Aware of Services is Key To Safety

Senior citizens are often the target of scammers. In some documented cases, caretakers have ripped off the elderly by stealing from bank accounts and taking checks. The Head of Consumer Affairs for Bucks County, Mike Bannon says both Bucks and Montgomery Counties have special units to deal with anyone who steals from seniors.

“Bucks and Montgomery Counties both have a Task Force to investigate anyone who physically, mentally or financially abuses a senior. They are good programs to go to if anyone should need help.”

May is Older Americans Month. Bannon was a guest on the
AM-Edition Tuesday.

Lansdale Historical Soc. To Present History of Churches.

The Lansdale Historical Society will present the history of churches in Lansdale. The Historical Society’s Pat Rieker says the event is scheduled for Tuesday evening.

“When Lansdale was getting its start in 1872, it was very important that churches become established and families needed to move here and they were looking for a church home. The founding fathers, Dr. Jacobs and the Heebner brothers, who were the owned the Heebner Agricultural Works, were instrumental in establishing the Lansdale Methodist-Episcopal Church, which was the first church in Lansdale.”

The event is Tuesday night at the Lansdale Park & Rec. building at 7:30. Pat Rieker was a guest Monday morning on the AM-Edition with Darryl Berger.

Bensalem Author Tells of True Events During The Holocaust

A Bensalem woman’s quest to remember the victims of the holocaust and continue the education process of the true events of what happened during the Holocaust, takes another step “94 maidens.”  Author Rhonda fink Whitman, whose mother survived the holocaust, has partnered with the Holocaust Awareness Museum and Education Center of Philadelphia.

“Together, we have taken 20 survivors, by the end of this school year we’ll have 20 survivors in the Philadelphia region, who will have visited 250 schools and reached 25 thousand students.”

Fink Whitman adds, Holocaust education is only mandated in seven states. She hopes Pennsylvania will become the 8th by the end of this legislative session. Fink Whitman was a recent guest on the WNPV program Bucks-Mont Live with Host John Ralston.

Expert Has Tips To Keep The Bed Bugs Away

Don’t let the bed-bugs bite was an old folk saying. But for some Montgomery County and Bucks County homeowners it’s become a very real problem. Jim Hudson of Moyer Indoor Outdoor says, the pests are most often picked up while on vacation.

“You want to look around the headboard that’s mounted to the wall. You want to look around the bed frame. Those are the ideal areas where bed bugs are going to hang out at, so when you are in your deep sleep, that’s when they come to feed on you.”

Hudson says, Moyer Indoor-Outdoor actually use a beagle scout for bed bug detection.
