After what union officials said was an excellent turnout at last night’s meeting, Pennridge teachers agreed to non-binding arbitration for the union’s unsettled contract. Teachers have been working without a contract since July and an agreement on salary and benefits has not been reached. District officials told parents yesterday that a strike may happen, although teachers voted against it, the union says if the school board does not agree on arbitration the union may be forced to vote on a strike again. The board wants a first-year salary freeze and a 1.48 percent average raise over four years, the unions wants a five-year deal with an average 2.47 percent salary increase.
