Repair work has finally started at Finn McCool’s Tavern in Ambler, where part of a stone wall fell down in early May.

Stones and bricks from the second and third stories collapsed, sending debris including a window crashing down to the sidewalk on the Spring Garden Street side of the 119-year-old building.

Since then borough officials have threatened legal action to get the owner to fix the damage and re-open the tavern, but now that repair work is underway that’s on hold.  The work should be finished in two or three weeks.
