Bucks County planners have been working for more than three years on a plan to encourage bicycling on local roads, and they hope to send a final version to the county commissioners in the fall.

A draft version identifies certain roads that would work for bicyclists including Route 202 between Doylestown and New Hope.

In the upper end of the county, cyclists using Nockamixon State Park and its internal roads and trails could head up Old Bethlehem Pike to Springfield or take Route 313 to Quakertown.  The county has no plans to build bike trails, but it will encourage local municipalities to do what they can over time in cooperation with developers, who could include bike trails when they build new projects.
