The Montgomery Township Supervisors have approved plans for a Wegman’s Supermarket. Township Manager Larry Gregan says the company will put up a new store at the Montgomery Mall in the space where the old Boscov’s Department Store building has been torn down.

“That was preliminary work the mall asked to go forward with in anticipation of this project.  I think they were going to have to remove that building no matter what they did.  It doesn’t meet current standards for retail space, so that’s already been demolished and some of the site preparation work has been underway.”

Gregan says it’s a one-story building with about 140,000 square feet of floor space and, much like any other Wegman’s, it will have a big selection of groceries and many prepared foods from single items to complete meals.  Construction should start soon and be finished late next year.
