Relay Wraps Up Outside NPHS
The North Penn Relay for Life, a walkathon to help fund cancer research, wrapped up Sunday at Crawford Stadium outside North Penn High School. Elaine Barth said she came from Lock Haven, Pennsylvania to support her brother, cancer survivor Steve Frederick.
“We come together as a family because we have been fighting this battle, as have so many others who are here, and it’s just a great inspiration to be a part of this event.”
The family named his team “Maestro’s Marchers” because of Frederick’s long history with music.
The American Cancer Society’s Income Development Director for Montgomery County, Meredith Gavin, says about 540 people participated in the North Penn Relay for Life and they raised about $180,000. That’s $20,000 above their goal for this year, and it’s the third year in a row they have exceeded their goal.
