A historic house in North Wales has been saved from the auction block, at least until later this month.
A notice on the Montgomery County website says a sheriff’s sale, originally set for Thursday, has been postponed until July 27. Artist William Trego lived in the East Montgomery Avenue home (pictured here) from about 1890 until 1909. While living there he used North Wales area residents and their horses as models for his paintings. He specialized in depicting Revolutionary and Civil War scenes, and his best-known work may be the iconic “March to Valley Forge,” done in 1883 while he was living and working in Philadelphia.
