Improvements Planned For Fischer’s Park

creekTowamencin officials are preparing to apply for a state grant of up to $400,000 for upgrades at Fischer’s Park. Township Manager Rob Ford says several improvements are planned at the 77-acre park on Bustard Road.

“Bathroom facilities which need to be replaced, a dog park, some bocce courts, some game tables, and also a riparian corridor, which is replacement of plants along the creek, some ADA improvements, additional paths, some low lights along the trail areas in the central part of the park.”

The grant requires a 50 percent local match, which would come from a trust long-time resident Elizabeth Arneth set up before her death last year.  Ford says now is a good time to apply for the grant because many municipalities cannot afford the matching share, which means there is less competition for the funds.
