Beer Fest A Big Hit
“Philadelphia Pale Ale is an English-style pale ale. You can have a lot of them at one sitting because it’s only 4.2 percent alcohol. It starts with a nice, bitter hops start and then it mellows out to a fruity finish at the end. It’s really good. Ha, ha.”
Stein says he enjoys all of the Yards Brewery beers. It’s located on the riverfront in Philadelphia, where Frankford Avenue meets Delaware Avenue, and he works as bar manager at the Terrace Taproom in Manayunk. Vendors also included Mary Dempsey, Specialty Brand Marketing Director for the Gretz Beer Company, a wholesale distributor in Norristown. She says they had a wide variety of choices from around the country.
“We have Long Trail Brewing and Magic Hat from Vermont. We have Anchor Brewery from San Francisco. We have Red Hook and Widmer from the Northwest Coast and two of the greatest new hits, Bud Light Lime and Bud light Wheat. We’re very fortunate that we represent such a great portfolio.”
Dempsey says bringing beers out so people can sample them, and giving back to the community, are important parts of the business. Beer tasting festival proceeds benefit the Lansdale Farmers’ Market, the library and Manna on Main Street.
