Dems Blast GOP Leader’s Remark About Voter ID Law
Democrats in the Pennsylvania Legislature are blasting House Republican Leader Mike Turzai for a comment he made over the weekend at a Republican Party meeting in Harrisburg. He was listing legislative achievements including Voter ID, which he said is going to allow Governor Mitt Romney to win the state in the November Presidential Election. It requires voters to show photo identification at the polls. State Senator Vincent Hughes, who represents parts of Philadelphia and Montgomery County, says it proves what Democrats have said all along.
“We told you that this was all about winning an election, not some alleged voter fraud. We told you so.”
State Senator Daylin Leach, who represents parts of Montgomery and Delaware Counties, says it shows that the Republicans are short on good ideas to win votes.
“If you have to stop people from voting to win elections, your ideas suck.”
Leach says Democrats will use Turzai’s remark in their lawsuit aimed at overturning the Voter ID Law.
