Ex ADA Campaigning Full-Time For State Rep
Former Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Todd Stephens, who is now campaigning full-time for state representative in the 151st District, says lawmakers made some needed spending cuts before passing a budget last month, but they were pretty generous with themselves. “At the time when they’re cutting funding for rape crisis centers, libraries, things like that, they’re increasing their own spending. It’s just so hypocritical to look at someone who’s running and agency or department and say, ‘You need to cut your budget by x number of dollars but, by the way, we’re going to increase spending in ours.’ The hypocrisy in that is outrageous.”
Stephens says budget cuts needed to be made everywhere, including the legislature itself and accounts containing millions and millions of dollars that legislative leaders can spend on anything they want. He is a Republican running against incumbent Democrat Rick Taylor, and he appeared Wednesday on the WNPV talk program Legally Speaking.
