Hatfield Man Pleads Guilty To Beating, Robbery
A Hatfield man has admitted severely beating and robbing a man who gave him a ride home from a local bar on New Year’s Day. 21-year-old Jamal Bell pleaded guilty to a felony robbery charge Tuesday in Montgomery County Court, and he faces state prison time, but the judge deferred sentencing while court officials conduct a background investigation. He and a co-defendant, 21-year-old Kareem Moore, are being held without bail at the county prison. Prosecutors say the two took advantage of a man who offered them a ride home from the Hattricks Sports Bar on Lincoln Avenue in Hatfield Borough after celebrating the New Year. The victim was found at about 3:00am on January 1 inside his vehicle, covered with blood, outside the Hatfield Village Apartments. He told police one man, who was in the back seat, grabbed him from behind and punched him 30 to 40 times on the head and face while the second man, in the front seat, took his wallet and cell phone from his pockets. Police identified Bell and Moore after viewing surveillance video from the bar, and investigators found that bell did the beating.
