Driver Gets Jail Time In Teen Pedestrian’s Death
An Ambler man who admitted striking and killing a Wissahickon Middle School student while high on drugs has been given 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison. Earlier this year 26-year-old Andrew Meyers of North Main Street pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence in the death of 13-year-old Natan Luehrmann-Cowen. The incident happened on March 17 of last year while the boy was riding his skateboard at Bright’s Lane and Cindy Circle in Lower Gwynedd, near his home and about a block from the Wissahickon High School campus. Blood tests showed that Meyers had ingested methadone and two other drugs that he admitted buying on the streets. Crash reconstruction experts say he was driving about 63 miles per hour on a 25-mile-per-hour residential street when he struck and killed the boy.
