Man Gets Probation For Leaving Child In Car At Casino
A gambler has admitted leaving his one-year-old son in a parked car last June while he played the slots at the Parx Casino. 60-year-old Donald Waige of Philadelphia pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child Thursday in Bucks County Court. A judge gave him 18 months probation, barred him from the casino and ordered him to complete parenting classes, which he has already started. He told police he left his 15-month-old son sleeping in a car seat, with the engine and air conditioning running, while he went inside to collect a ten-dollar credit on his player’s card. He said he thought he could collect the credit before the boy woke up, but once he got inside he started gambling and lost track of the time. A passerby called Bensalem Township Police after seeing the child crying inside the car.
