Man Admits Role In Beating, Gets Jail Time
A Lansdale man is going to jail for his role in beating a man who thought they were friends. 20-year-old Andrew Schmitz of Church Road was given 11 1/2 to 23 months in Montgomery County Prison Thursday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Another man who pleaded guilty earlier in the same incident, 29-year-old Walter Simmons of Church Road in Lansdale, is serving two to four years in state prison. The victim suffered eye, head, neck and arm injuries and internal bleeding in his brain as a result of the beating in February of last year at Schmitz’s home. The two must also pay more than $2,000 to cover the victim’s medical bills.
