Manna Open At New Location
Manna on Main Street in Lansdale opened the first week of April in a newly renovated building, across the street and two blocks west of the one where it has spent most of its 30-plus years. Manna Development Associate Kristyn DiDominick says the new building has 5,200 square feet of space, up from less than 1,000 in the old one, and it has a commercial kitchen with a restaurant-style dining atmosphere.
“When individuals come in to eat with us they can sit down at the table and relax. A volunteer asks them what they’d like to drink. We have the menu on a board so they can select what they would like, and it’s all restaurant style and it feels like dining. There’s a lot of dignity in that. People can sit and relax and connect and form those bonds with other people and the volunteers that are so important.”
DiDominick says the food pantry is also much larger and more like a regular grocery store, where people pick out what they want. Quantities are based on family size. She says the shelves are well stocked and donations keep coming in.
