Banker Charlie Hoeflich Dies At Age 97
Long-time Univest executive Charles Hoeflich died Monday, November 28, at his “Elderberry Farm” home in Bedminster. He was 97, known to his friends as Charlie, and well-known in the banking community for his dedication and insight. He joined the Souderton-based banking and financial service company in 1962, when it was the Union National Bank and Trust Company. He served in several positions including president of the bank and Chairman of the Univest Corporation. He retired from the board of directors in May of this year, but kept the title of Chairman Emeritus. He was a World War Two veteran and a founding director of the Penn Foundation, and he was widely respected for giving back to the community through his involvement in many charitable causes. A memorial service for Charles Hoeflich will be held Tuesday, December 6, at 2:00pm, at Saint Matthew’s Lutheran Church on Ridge Road in Perkasie.
