N Wales Sewer Deal Approved
The North Wales Water Authority Directors have approved an agreement to send all North Wales Borough sewage to the Upper Gwynedd Wastewater Treatment Plant. The two sewage systems are being merged over about the next three years. After the two systems are fully connected the old North Wales plant will be closed and demolished, but the NWWA will continue maintaining all sewage collection pipes under borough streets. The authority says the interconnection will cost nearly $3 million initially, and another $3 million over the next ten years, but it should result in long-term savings through economies of scale. The Upper Gwynedd Township Commissioners have already approved the agreement, and North Wales Borough Council still needs to approve it.
