Montco. Sells Delinquent Tax Properties
Montgomery County sent warnings to home and land owners who were behind in their taxes. Then they sent out a message to anyone who wanted to purchase those properties by of a judicial tax sale. County Treasurer, Jason Salus, says Tuesday’s sale of tax delinquent properties was a success.
“We sold 11 properties and were able to collect over 160,000 dollars in excess of our collection costs that will be able to return to the county, the Townships and school districts where the properties are located.”
Salus adds, the turnout was strong, with more than 50 bidders attending Tuesday’s Judicial tax Sale. Salus says, the county typically gives a home or property owner 21 months to pay taxes before the Sheriff is ordered to take control of the property for lack of payment. The county has about 40 more properties that are delinquent on taxes. They go up for sale in October.
