The Revolutionary Shuttle is running seven days a week from now through August at Valley Forge National Historical Park.
Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Paul Decker says the free tour bus gives visitors another way to see the sights.
“People can leave their cars and have a more interesting tour because they’re paying attention to what they’re doing rather than the road, and it’s not taking business away from anybody else. The for-pay trolleys are still running, so we’ve just added to the inventory of what our visitors can do when the get to the park.”
Historic Re-enactor Graham Dellinger says it is also environmentally friendly.
“It runs on biodiesel, so it reduces air pollution, and for every car that the shuttle takes off the roads it means there is less congestion, less noise, and more pollution is being taken away.”
Grants from two federal government agencies and the Ford Motor Company made the Revolutionary Shuttle possible. It stops at nine locations, including the main parking lot, and the Welcome Center has a map showing the stops.
